Hi we are KROSSWINDZ from Calcutta India,we are the first band from the eastern region of India to release an album of English originals way back in 1993 called SINGLES.We have also released a full length English originals album called ONE WORLD in 2002 .We also have releases from RSJ records Delhi ,Chandrani's originals were featured in GIR vol 1 and 2.We have 9 albums in our regional language Bengali of which 5 are full length albums and the other 4 are compilations. We toured the US in October 2007-we played for Sandusky Radio in SEATTLE,and we played concerts at the following cities-Los Angeles,San Fransisco,Chicago,Jersey City,Atlanta and Seattle. We are focusing on fusion with jazz leanings right now.We are working on our new English album.

PHIRE DEKHA - OUR NEW ALBUM

The KROSSWINDZ CD PHIRE DEKHA won Album of the year at the Mirchi Music Awards tonight in Calcutta 4th Feb 2012.Thanks to all our friends, fans and well wishers around the globe :)

The album is titled "Phire Dekha" and it’s a tribute to the Bards of undivided Bengal namely Tagore, Dwijendralal Roy, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Ramprasad Sen. This 13 song album also features 2 of our originals titled" Tobu Amar" and "Ondhokarer Ojana". The sound of the album is World Rock and we have also experimented with Electronica and Drum and Bass. We are also honored to be working with Saregama(HMV) for the first time and the songs will be available globally via all the Digital download stores as well as conventional stores.

For the first time in our career we have recorded Rabindra Sangeet and Shyama Sangeet both in our signature Krosswindz style.

We have also tipped our hats in salutation to the Jazz, Rock and World Music masters who have influenced us over the years -Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Yossou N Dour, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Joni Mitchell and Abida Parveen.

Latest News flash-Vikramjit Tuki Banerjee has been appointed as a brand ambassador and endorsee for world class USA based Guitar manufacturer Schecter Guitars.Tuki is presently using the brilliantly versatile Damien Elite FR(Super strat) and awaiting the arrival of a Schecter PT Fastback(Tele) in 3color sunburst !!!

Krosswindz had a hugely successful 42 day concert tour of USA in September and October of 2009.The band played 11 gigs over 9 cities-New York,San Fransisco,Dallas,Austin City,San Diego,Tampa,Sacramento,Boston and Delaware.The Grammy winning Guitar Legend Eric Johnson was guest of honor at the famous venue Copa in the Austin City show and a Krosswindz tour featuring Eric as co-headliner is planned for 2010.

Krosswindz also toured 6 cities in the US in October 2007- Los Angeles,San Fransisco,Seattle,Atlanta,Chicago and Jersey City.Kroswindz played 7 concerts and one Live Radio Broadcast 2 hour unplugged concert for Sandusky Radio Seattle-Kevin Mc Donald Presents.Krosswindz have been nominated in 2 categories in the JPF Awards 2009(The Grassroot Grammys) being held in NASHVILLE TN USA along with co-nominees A R Rahman and Illayaraja,Krosswindz have been nominated for Best Indian Song and Best Indian Album.The ceremony is kicking off in BB King's pub Nashville with a performance and Krosswindz have been invited to perform at both their events the 2nd event -the main ceremony is at The Wild Horse Saloon Concert Hall in Nashville on 29th August.

Chandrani has been recently awarded “The LBF Visionary Award of Excellence - 2009” for her contribution in the field of “Music” by the Lakshya Bhartee Foundation (LBF), established in 2002.The Award Ceremony will be held as per the programs given below;

Vikramjit(Tuki) was featured in the first Guitar festival in India-Guitar Gurus May 30th Fireflies Presents Guitar Gurus -the concert 5 of the hottest guitar players from all over India namely Amit Heri (Bangalore), Derek Julien (Pune), Sanjay Divecha (Mumbai), Vikramjit 'Tuki' Banerjee (Kolkata) and John Anthony (Chennai) will come together on one stage. Each artist will play for one hour and the show will end with a mother of a jam involving all artists

KROSSWINDZ Achievments in 2008

Krosswindz has been on a roll and some neat stuff has been happening the last couple of weeks.

Krosswindz played two rocking shows  in Bhutan at the “India for Bhutan”Coronation Celebrations of the Fifth King  on 6th and 7th of December 2008.An original song composed by Krosswindz titled Dharma King was composed and performed for this special occasion.

The BBC Radio London did a full live interview and unplugged concert with KROSSWINDZ. They are playing the KROSSWINDZ original song EERSHA METER (from bengali album DHOWA),SHUNDORI KOMOLA and ALLAH MEGH DE (from album JHIKO JHIKO)on their Radio Channel

City rock hits US shores on world music ship
